TIPVDA 2.0

TIPVDA 2.0

Introduction

Since 2009, Taiwan has developed its very own assessment and instruments on intimate partner violence danger, known as the Taiwan Intimate Partner Violence Danger Assessment (TIPVDA1.0) (Wang 2015; Wang 2012) and the Safety Protections Network project (Wang, 2015; Liu and Wang, 2011). The project required police, social workers, teachers, and hospital personnel who encountered domestic violence cases to use TIPVDA1.0 for the assessment of danger to prevent potentially lethal cases. TIPVDA1.0 is also an indicator for local government to call for interprofessional meetings targeting high-risk cases, assessing the lethality of each case, customizing proper intervening actions as well as assuring the safety of the victims and their underage children.

In 2020, to further upgrade the effectiveness of the TIPVDA check sheets, the Ministry of Health and Welfare sponsored a renovated version of the Taiwan Intimate Partner Violence Danger Assessment (TIPVDA2.0) (PL. Wang, Yen and NL. Wang 2021). The upgraded check sheets have several versions according to different requirements: a reporting version consisting of 8 questions and a formal version consisting of 18 questions.

In 2022, to enable frontline professionals to understand and effectively use the TIPVDA2.0 assessment check sheets, the Ministry of Health and Welfare commissioned the Renovated Intimate Partner Violence Danger Assessment Educational Promotion Program. This project provides local governments guidelines for promoting and educating purposes regarding intimate partner violence cases.
